Agriculture is the backbone of Indian economy as it serves as the primary source of livelihood for huge portion of India’s population. Vast agricultural land and diverse favourable climatic conditions encourage the cultivation of different crops. At the same time, large population and rising incomes have lead to the growth in demand of value added agri based products. Hence, the Government of India through the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoPFI) is providing huge incentives to the food processing industry. Major industries constituting the food processing industry are grains, sugar, edible oils, beverages, dairy products, fruits and vegetables, poultry and meat processing, fisheries, food retail etc.

Food processing plants conforming to latest international norms like IFS, BRC, HACCP, FDA, FSSAI etc. having air drying and freeze drying processes, sub-zero cold storage facilities, IQF facilities, Retort Process, etc. are designed by S3M. Similarly, large numbers of onion and potato storage facilities, grain processing and snack manufacturing facilities with high end hygienic conditions are designed across India and abroad.

Special attention is given to zoning and flow of men and material in such facilities at conceptual stage to avoid contamination; automatic loading and unloading of materials, ventilation, rodent protection, jointless flooring – are some of the features designed and detailed to provide a dust free and hygienic atmosphere within the facility.
